Our first visit to Northampton state was late in its abandonment. For a couple of years we'd heard about security being there and what roads they circle around on, but when we got there was no security to be seen. Keeping all of that info in mind we were a little shocked not to see security there at all. Apparently just short of our first visit security had been discontinued there. We were able to freely roam the kirkbride and surrounding campus with no worries. The kirk itself was in fairly good condition, with collapses mostly restricted to the administration building, and a select few rooms in the wings. Although completely empty now, of almost off of the furniture, the hospital was definitely a sight to see for its amazing and colorful hallways. Overall it had to be one of the most fun places I had the opportunity to photograph.
