New Norwich Photos
I uploaded a new set of 7 photos from Norwich State Hospital. Security was a bitch so we didn't stay long and all of the shots are from one building.

I got some kind of Big News
Keti and I are getting married tomorrow. We've been dating for over 4 years now and last week we finally decided it was time. So I thought I would stop by here and share the news with everyone we know through the site that isn't on our myspace's.
On a smaller side note I recently quit my job so i may end up having more time for exploring while i'm hunting for a new one if the wife allows, so hit me up on myspace or email if you've got a plan/idea.

I planned this update for Christmas Day, but it's going up a few hours early because I'm working
through most of the day on Christmas. Yeah it's sad, but someones gotta keep pharmacies open on holidays :P Matt Fallout
This Update has been months in the making, the site(now requiring flash player to view photos)
has had a complete facelift in the locations section. Photos dating back to the site's begining
have had some if not much recovery, and a new and previously overlooked problem with the gallery
display has been corrected. Now vertical photos can now be displayed at almost twice the size
of before. Other new features for locations are "Mini-Chronicles" in each location and some will
have "Abandonment Histories" as well.
All of the photos in locations are new, even the old ones. And by that I mean all of the photos
previously on the site have been re-editied from the originals, and many of the ones we didn't
include in previous sets are now in there too. So theres about 118 new photo sets. Mostly what
I'm lacking now is Keti's photos, because she's too busy working.
I've unfortunately had to remove some locations because of lost original photos/severly low quality
originals, some of them will be back, some might not ever come back to the site. However if they had
a chronicle, that will still be up.
This has been my largest undertaking since first starting this site, so hopefully it's enjoyed by all.
New Locations
Salem Jail
Buffalo Central Terminal
The Orphanarium
The Boyce Thomson Institute
Bradford College
Buffalo State Hospital
Concrete Central
Manchester Paper Mill
Stoneview Psychiatric Center
Pleasure Beach
The Farm Colony
Briarwood
The Isaac Theater
Burton State Hospital

A few days ago we got an email from Russell Fernandez of Princeton Architectural Press. In The email he offered us a review copy of an upcomming book they are about to publish called Ghostly Ruins: America's Forgotten Architecture of course we jumped at the chance to check it out. The book is scheduled for release October 31st. But in the mean time please enjoy this review Keti wrote:
This is not a photography book to display on your coffee table, an attraction guide to take on your next trip, or a stodgy history book. And as the disclaimer reads, it is not a how-to book for exploring abandoned buildings.
It is, however, an amazing look at thirty different places of our past. While chronicling locations known by explorers across the world - such as Danvers State Hospital, and Eastern State Penitentary - it also features buildings that have been renovated, and houses that while may not be much to look at, are so rich in history that a one-page synopsis doesn't seem like enough.
Amidst the brief historical stories of each fascinating location, author Harry Skrdla includes present-day information stated matter-of-factly, while still retaining the eloquence he displays from page 1.
Through Ghostly Remains, Skrdla has given new life to these abandoned structures. His poignant words and accompanying photographs of past and present will surely ignite in all readers an interest in forgotten places, and for those already sneaking behind the No Trespassing signs and tip-toeing over shaky wooden floors; a new-found respect and admiration for history, architecture, and the world around us.

Due to work I haven't been out exploring or taking pictures much lately. A couple of days ago after work I managed to get out for a couple hours before the sun went down to check out an old mill with Keith.
When we got there my tripod broke so these pictures are all shot freehand, at an ISO way too high, with my new nikon d50, (Oh yeah I finally got my broke ass a real dSLR, this was my first chance to use it)

So I haven't updated in months, Whats new?
I was, as usual, planning a much bigger update that I have decided to put on the back burner for now, so that I can update with the mass of new content that was building.
For anyone that is used to using the bottom navigation I'm sorry I had to disable it for now because it didn't match the new code. I'll work on fixing that next. For now Please enjoy the update.
Stay tuned for the next episode of "Fallout Updates Thier Site" scheduled for December 1st 2692 A.D.

Over the weekend we obtained our newest location, which I've dubbed Eagle Academy.
It has quite a rich history that I sadly can't say anything about because I've
decided to classify it due it's relatively good condition (vandalism-wise). It's been everything
from a military hospital to a state school.
Enjoy the pics, you can find them here:

This past weekend Keti, Moving Unit and I took a very long trip out to Northampton to
visit the closed state hospital there. Once we got home we realized our pics came
out a little worse than we expected. We picked 12 usable pics and put them up on
the site for your viewing pleasure so I present to you:

A little while back Keti, Chas, and I went down to Norwich with Moving Unit,
despite slight automotive problems we made it down there and had an awesome
time. The pictures are here,
and as per usual the chronicle may not be written for months if ever at all.
Keti and I also revisited a couple of our old locations to take some updated pictures. The
updated galleries are,
Old Wrentham State School, and
Candycorn State Hospital.
Last weekend was the annual tresspassing event called "The Great Race" (A Mike Dijital event).
last year our team came in last. This year however we got second place out of 8 teams, and
only lost by a small margin. A product of the race was the creation of the fictional
character Fallout Man. We're going to work on making a short video for the character but for
now the teaser video is in the Dever
section.
Have fun checking out the new stuff.

Salt, Keti and I recently checked out the Dever State School. A lot of people have said
it's a lame location, but the three of us thought it was cool. Lots of tunnels, well lit,
albiet the architecture was kind of ugly in comparison to some other places we've been.
As of right now we haven't written a chronicle about the trip and we can be quite lazy
about that, but the photos are up for your viewing pleasure.
Here's a link for those of you who are also lazy and dont feel like taking the time to
click the link to the locations page then, the location itself

Keti and I made a Video for the site. By that I mean Keti made a video and I offered help,
but mostly got in the way. Right now it's going to be hosted on Keti's site and server:
Biomusicology.net. I forgot to
include a place for videos that weren't for a specific location in the this layout :O

Well the new version is here. If you've been here before you'll notice the changes.
We've added a handful of new locations, and new/better pics for many of the old
locations. There's a bunch of new chronicles too. We still have a ton of
backlogged content to add, that I just dont have the patience to make web ready for
this update. Hope you enjoy the browsing the site.

Hey everyone! We're still here!
In January-February we had a brief explosion of exploring almost constantly. We
managed to get a few new locations for the site and revisit a bunch of places we
had already been to. It all ended abruptly when we suffered the loss of our
trusted Ford Aspire to some irreparable frame damage in an accident during one
of the last few snowstorms.
As you can imagine this made things pretty hard as far as getting around just to
do our own stuff, forget about exploring. We had some content to update the site
with but as I was browsing the site I started thinking "I really think i should
change the top like this(idea in my head)" I started working on the idea from my
local test server and came up with an awesome top navigation area that didn't
match the site. Then I started finding more things I'd like to change or "upgrade"
about the site so I started designing an entire new layout that would match the
top area. I went through about two weeks of trashing ideas when I finally came up
with something I liked. It was right around this time that Salt resurfaced. For
anyone that didn't notice he'd been MIA for about half a year, but he's back now
and at the top of his game.
Getting back to the site.... I started writing out the new site for about a month.
Unfortunately it turned out some of the stuff I designed wasn't going to work on
our current hosting. So I had to trash all of the work I had done, and I had to
do it the hard way and code out all of the html with no aid of any server side
scripting. Now the new site is in its final stages so stay tuned it will be up
very soon.

I've added two new locations; a new hospital, and an amusement park. I have a crapload of new content that I'm
sifting through trying to decide if there's enough for each new place to make a location on the site. I also
removed alot of sites from the resources. If you noticed I took your site off the list, and you're only down
temporarily send me an email when it's back up and you'll be back up there.
